UGG® Australia created the Art & Sole initiative to benefit a different charity every year. For their ninth annual event, this time benefitting the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, UGG turned to Talenthouse to discover a special designer. Imaginative individuals such as Manolo Blahnik, Liv Tyler, Betsey Johnson, Mariah Carey have used their artistic skill to dream up unique UGG boot designs – and after winning Talenthouse’s Creative Invite with UGG®, Buket Pamuk of Turkey has joined their ranks!

After a surprise winner announcement and video introduction, we have followed up with Buket to learn more of her inspirations and aspirations alike.

I wanted to figure out a way to describe the lives of children in need…each puzzle piece would represent one child and I left one puzzle piece blank with a question mark…to represent hope. These children should never lose their hope.

TH : How did you become involved with this Creative Invite?
Buket :
Well, I was out one day with my friends and I heard them talking about this contest. When I came home that night, the first thing I did was research the contest and Talenthouse. After some research I knew that I wanted to enter it.

TH : How did you develop your artistic skills?
Buket :
I feel as though my professors at my school helped me realize that I have some talent. I realized after entering different art events that my art skills were slowing developing.

TH: Where do you find inspiration for your work?
Buket :
For this specific design I was inspired by children in need. Also, I used a puzzle because I know children love to play with puzzles and love colors.

I really just concentrated on the design itself and used my vision of the children of the world to help complete my design. Before starting my design, I wanted to figure out a way to describe the lives of children in need. I thought that each puzzle piece would represent one child and I left one puzzle piece blank with a question mark. I want this puzzle piece to represent hope. These children should never lose their hope.

TH: Do you have any personal websites or other media links that you would like to share with our readers?
Buket :
Here are my Facebook and Twitter links. I would like to collaborate with other artists.

TH: What advice do you have for people who are in need of inspiration?
Buket :
My main advice for people who need inspiration is to constantly search for a specific cause. There are so many causes in our world today that need awareness. For example, they should use animal rights and human rights to find inspiration. If we show awareness, we are helping provide a better future. Also, they should always know that they should never lose hope and always keep dreaming. If they continue to believe in themselves they will reach their goals.

TH: What other submissions got your attention?
Buket :
Murat Inan’s design at the “Design a t-shirt for Kylie Minogue and Dolce & Gabbana” Creative Invite caught my attention. I also found the Panda print design by Rose Wood for the UGG Australia contest very beautiful and interesting.

TH: Do you have any other pursuits, interests, or hobbies?
Buket :

I love to listen to classic music, dance and read books about different topics. I also love to watch theatre plays, write and attend concerts. I love being involved in fine arts. :)

TH: What’s your dream project (besides this one), or what are a couple of your dream projects?
Buket :
Currently, I do not have a project going on. However, in the future I hope to believe involved in art projects that help promote World Peace.

Thank you so much! Thank you for giving us, aspiring designers, the opportunity to design in this contest.
