The Glade Wheel is on its way to the English countryside with Rusko, Sven Vath and more, thanks to Talenthouse artist Sarah Lucy! Glade Festival 2012 invited artists and art collectives to submit proposals for live art to be made during the festival and we’re pleased to announce that Sarah is the winner.

Her Glade Wheel will be an extravagant vinyl record, exploding with brightly colored paints and audio recordings from festival goers. Sarah wrote, “This kinetic artwork will be made with the festival-goers bodies and voices; with body printing, live drawing, playful participation and sound. The canvas will be a big flat 8ftx8ft circular disc, fixed to the wall provided by a central bolt, allowing it to slowly turn vertically. Festivalgoers can dip themselves in little paddling pools of brightly coloured paint, and make body prints against the circular canvas. Turning the disc allows the paint to run out, and mix prints (like a dancing crowd). Fixed all over the wheel will be little voice recorders/players (as found in speaking gift cards) for festival goers to listen to and record messages/beats/glade stories.”

Prior to the Invite’s launch, Tess Acheson, Art Curator at Secret Productions, said:

We want to find the best live illustration artist in the UK today and give them a platform within the festival arena of Glade 2012.

We’re confident that Glade attendees will have a blast participating in Sarah’s creation, which will produce an everlasting artistic keepsake to commemorate this year’s festivities. She will receive all the necessary support to bring this product to the festival. She will also be producing ink drawings of her observations around the festival.

Glade, best described an “Electric Eden” in the English Countryside, features over 14 stages with hundreds of DJs and live acts from around the world. It’s set to take place over the weekend of June 14-17 at Houghton Hall in Norfolk.  Secret Arts is an organization dedicated to the funding, support and promotion of installation artists’ projects in the UK and abroad.

Sarah’s prize pack will include up to five free tickets to Glade Festival 2012, a feature in the Glade Festival 2012 programme, exposure across Glade Festival’s social media channels and profile blog post article about her work on secretarts.co.uk.

Runner-up Kev Munday and highest-voted artist Matthew Sergison-main will each receive a pair of valued at £135 to the festival.

Congratulations Sarah, Kev and Matthew! We’d like to thank everyone who submitted their thoughtful and innovative projects.
