I was honoured to remix the hit single ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and utterly overjoyed at winning the competition which provided exciting new skills, knowledge and a fantastic day mastering my track at Metropolis Studios.
Andrew “Andy” Myers (aka DJ Kenneth A) of Baltimore, Maryland had given life to a collection of electronic tracks and remixes in his spare time. But it took the exhortation of Freddie Mercury’s message in “Don’t Stop Me Now” and a tip from a work friend to convince Andy to take a chance on himself and win renewed faith in his calling.
When Talenthouse partnered with Queen‘s Brian May and Roger Taylor alongside Metropolis Studios to celebrate the legendary band’s 40th anniversary by finding a bold remix of one of their most smashing hits, Andy was one of those artists who get off the fence to take professional creativity into their own hands and submit to our Creative Invite. The news that his work had been personally selected by Brian and Roger plus guest judges Justin Shirley-Smith and Kris Frederiksson came as “a total shocker” to Andy – however, there was no denying that he was headed to Metropolis Studios in London for an expert mastering of his track with veteran engineer Tim Young. You can read up on our first Success Story interview with Andy here before checking out the following video of his eagerly anticipated Winner Experience.
Thanks to Tim and the Talenthouse team for this life changing opportunity, I now believe in myself, my talents and my dreams. I’ve been given the inspiration needed to finally pursue a career in music.
Filmed by director, screenwriter, photographer and Talenthouse collaborator Ben Charles Edwards, the video captures this Winner’s elation at seeing his work take shape in the studio. Dig the scenery and Andy’s storytelling as he consults with the engineering team all the way from digital track to deftly cut 12 inch record (“Never would have expected to have a copy of something I did on vinyl!” he enthuses). While they carefully went over the remix to bring out the best in it, the sound engineers were glad to compliment Andy on how minimally they needed to adjust it for mastering, thanks to his excellent foundations.
This vote of confidence from illustrious creatives has got Andy seeing things in a new light: “I was honoured to remix the hit single ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and utterly overjoyed at winning the competition which provided exciting new skills, knowledge and a fantastic day mastering my track at Metropolis Studios. Thanks to Tim and the Talenthouse team for this life changing opportunity, I now believe in myself, my talents and my dreams. I’ve been given the inspiration needed to finally pursue a career in music. There may have been confidence issues before, but there’s simply no stopping me now.”

We wish Andy all the best with his ambitions and trust that this opportunity will give him the momentum to make creating music a central part of his life. We also hope that his story encourages any uncertain artists to cast off their reservations and take full advantage of our Creative Invites. Merely by entering, participants are building their repertoire and increasing their exposure within a world’s worth of diverse creatives – and it’s never an impossibility that they might find just the right people with whom to collaborate, whether established Hosts or fellow up-and-coming members.
Congratulations once more to Andy for his perseverance and trusting in his inspired abilities! You can learn more about Andy and his work via his Talenthouse Portfolio.
