Who is Jean Pigozzi? Based on some handy media research, we know, in summary, the following:

  • He’s hung out with Cate Blanchett, Martha Stewart and Diane von Furstenberg. Oh, and Steve Jobs, Jann Wenner, Arki Busson, Rupert Murdoch and Bono. You get the picture.
  • He collects art – lots of art. In fact, he owns the world’s largest collection of contemporary African art. This is, when he’s not taking pictures of his army of big shot buddies. “Collecting is an incurable disease,” he said.
  • He’s a renowned photographer, having published photography books and held exhibitions.

I want to make clothes for men, and eventually women, who are not teenagers but still feel young at heart.

In essence, he’s a big guy with a big personality and a sweet inheritance who loves art, travel and color. Take that character and put it into a high-end fashion line, and you’ve got LimoLand – famously referred to as apparel for those who “Live to Create.”

“I really feel that LimoLand brings happiness to people. There are plenty of crazy and colorful clothes being made for kids, but often people over 30 who wear clothes like that look quite ridiculous. That is the market I am interested in,” he’s said about LimoLand, which opened its flagship store in New York City’s Meatpacking District in 2010.

He’s also described the clothes as being “for my peers, myself, my clan, the people I’ve been with for the last 30 years.”

Among the World’s Greatest Characters

Johnny is one of the world’s greatest characters. I don’t really know what he does, though, apart from always taking those pictures.

This compliment, from superstar Elton John.

LimoLand’s Original Slogan…

…was “Street Wear for Rich Old Men.”

The joke drips with self-awareness, but that’s Jean’s style. That said, the clothes have been worn by the not-so-old Usher.

He envisions Mr. Limo as a snob

According to Limoland’s FAQ, Mr. Limo “is not a very nice man. He has no patience and hates traffic jams. He is also a bit of a snob – he does not like driving people who are rude, or who smoke or drink in his limo. If you do anything he doesn’t approve of, he will very promptly throw you out. If you don’t love the music on his iPod, don’t even bother getting in.”

That said, he also described Mr. Limo as the most elegant limo driver in the world – so take that into consideration when you give him a hot (or fittingly conservative) bod!

We’re gladly taking submissions for our design Creative Invite with LimoLand through July 10, 2012.
