Gathering of the Vibes, a four-day music festival held in honor of The Grateful Dead, has named Rebecca Rouse the winner of their Creative Invite! Rebecca’s stunning submission will be produced on a limited edition poster that will be given out to participants of the festival’s food drive. Congratulations, Rebecca!
As Rolling Stone magazine puts it:
The Gathering has grown into a multi-faceted fest that’s not just for hippies.
Rebecca will receive two VIP passes to spend the weekend of July 19-22 camping, enjoying art, and listening to a wide spectrum of music at the festival in Bridgepoint, Connecticut.
Music is a key factor in all my creativity, whether it is being heard actively while I work or being recalled in memory.
The festival is set to feature a variety of music including bluegrass, funk, reggae and of course, rock. This year’s headliners include Bob Weir and Bruce Hornsby, Primus and Phil Lesh.
Additionally, Rebecca will receive a framed copy of her design, signed by a selection of the festival artists. She’s a self-taught American painter who specializes in psychedelic artwork. Her online visual gallery can be viewed here.
She’s also a tattoo artist and designs custom hats. Her submission, titled “For George,” is in memory of the last of the Pinta Island tortoises, who passed away recently.
As the highest voted artist, Lola Leo will receive two weekend camping passes to the festival. Lola is an American pin-up artist whose influences are clearly represented in her submission, “Got Cans?”
Both Rebecca and Lola’s designs will see social media exposure from Gathering of the Vibes.
Thank you to everyone who submitted! As always, we were impressed by the quality of your art and hope you’ll check back for the great upcoming design CIs we have in the queue.
