Congratulations to Jarrad Seng, who’s in for the road trip of a lifetime! Jarrad will join Matchbox Twenty on the road to document a portion of their Australian tour from November 3 through November 11, 2012.
The band chose Jarrad’s submission because they felt that it best represented the theme of their latest album NORTH.
Bewildered in the City: We stumble around, bewildered in the city. A haze of people, and noise, and traffic. Look up.
Jarrad is a freelance photographer and videographer with a special interest in music, fashion and the arts. Among the artists he has collaborated with are Matt Corby, Kate Miller-Heidke, Passenger and Gossling.
His work has been featured in state and national press, local and national exhibitions, and Canon advertising campaigns. He is, in his own words, “Fuelled by adrenaline, adventure and the unknown.” You can check out more of his work on his website and Facebook page.
Jarrad will receive several artifacts to remember his adventure by, including an eBook of his photographs and journey will be released worldwide in 2013. He will also be given a framed compilation of a selection of his photographs, signed by Matchbox Twenty.
Heather Collins had the highest-voted submission with her photograph “Finding North.” Her photograph will be featured on the band’s Facebook page and she will receive a photography pass when they come through her hometown of Las Vegas!
This photo was inspired by a friend of mine and his passion for music.
He has hitchhiked around town, slept in random peoples houses and is doing everything he can to make his music known and make it in the biz.
The man in the photo is hitching a ride to town, to make it to a gig. His life isn’t going so well right now, but he knows he is at the lowest of the lows and if he keeps working hard his life can only go up….North!
Heather is a radio DJ for Mix 94.1 in Las Vegas as well as a concert photographer and a huge fan of Matchbox Twenty. She’s interviewed MB20′s Kyle Cook and photographed Rob Thomas. Additionally, her job in radio has led her to many cool opportunities to photograph musicians such as Neon Trees and the Goo Goo Dolls and she has interviewed Ellie Goulding on the air. Find out more about Heather and see her work on her website.
Matchbox Twenty has earned five Grammy nominations and sold over 30 million records worldwide. Frontman Rob Thomas famously collaborated with guitarist Carlos Santana for the 1999 hit “Smooth” – the last number one hit of the twentieth century and a Grammy Record of the Year.
Thomas also collaborated with Mick Jagger, Willie Nelson and Big Boi. Matchbox Twenty’s catalog includes memorable 1990s radio staples such as “Push,” “3 AM” and “Real World.” The band also enlivened the airways in 2003 with their hit “Unwell.”
A huge thanks to everyone who submitted their hard work. Our team appreciates your talent and we hope to see more of your photography in future Invites.
